Extra Design Tricks and Elements that Might Improve your Print Postcards
Are your print postcards still looking a bit bare and simple for your taste? Well, sometimes it takes some additional elements and extra design tricks in postcard printing for your color postcards to shine. In this guide, I will teach you a few extra design tricks in postcard printing that you can try out that should improve your print postcards. These tricks are the ones some professional use to tweak and improve the impact of their marketing postcards. So, they are really worth learning. Let me start you off with some facts about using texture filters.
1. Texture filters – If you look at most color postcards, they usually have some nice clean design with a nice clean image. Some designers do like to add a little personality to designs like those and add in some texture. Texture filters area a great way to insert “material” effects to the design. For example, you can make a postcard design look like it was painted on canvass, or printed on crumpled paper with texture filters. Other filters may add a little blur or fuzzy effects to the image to make it look softer.
With the wise use of these filters, you can turn a simple postcard design into something really interesting and original. It all depends on your creative use. So why not try out some texture filters?
2. Specialized borders – Another extra design element you can try out in postcard printing is the use of specialized borders. Most other color postcards do away with borders and extend their background images to the edge. However, in some design cases, it is actually good to add special borders to enhance the design and reinforce the main theme being projected. There are a lot of special border designs you can apply to color postcards and many are quite adept at framing Color Postcard designs, improving the overall look and feel of the whole postcard. Just try to pick the best border that you have and it should work out well.
3. Special ink use – Special inks can also be a great boon for color postcards. While normal full color inks for postcard printing is usually enough, special inks like glossy inks and metallic inks can add that “WOW” element to a design that makes it stand out. These glossy inks and metallic inks by their very nature at that certain gleam or glitter into the design itself. So when hit by light, your color postcard will basically shine and get noticed. It will be expensive to use these kinds of inks, but when you do, you will not regret their use. Most readers can’t resist looking at and reading postcards with these special inks, so you should at least try it out once.
4. Embossing elements – Many postcards also add some embossed elements to their postcard designs to make the design look more robust and three dimensional. By embossing text, logos and other types of graphics within a postcard, you add to that sense of quality and physical material that makes the color postcard hard to throw away. So try out some embossing sometimes in your postcard printing. It will have a unique effect.
So why don’t you try out some of these extra design elements now? These are great additions for any postcard printing designs, and will be well worth your investment in design time and money.
